SBSettings is a jailbreak application that brings various toggle switches directly to iPhones home screen that are available in the Settings app. SBSettings is also considered as a replacement for BossPref, which offered similar functions in iPhone firmware 1.x

SBSettings is not like the regular iPhone app that can be launched from the home screen by tapping on its icon. To launch it, you have to swipe on iPhones status bar or tap the status bar using two fingers. Once SBSettings is launched, youll see various toggle switches that are available in the Settings app such as Wi-Fi, 3G, EDGE, Bluetooth, Brightness etc. Just tap on the switch to disable or enable the feature (Red is "Off", Green is "On"). Isnt that a much faster method to change the settings?


Thats not all, one of the best features of SBSettings (thanks to the way it can be launched) is that you can launch it from almost anywhere. So you can launch SBSettings not only from your any of the home screens but you can bring it up when youre typing an SMS message or typing an email or even when youre browsing the web using iPhones Safari browser. As long as you can see the status bar, SBSettings is accessible.



Example: SBSettings Launched from iPhone Maps AppYou can also customize the toggle buttons that should appear on SBSettings using another configuration app. The developer explains that the reason for creating another app for configuration was to reduce the memory requirement for the app. You need tap the "More" button in SBSettings to launch the configuration app and then tap "Set Toggles" to customize the toggles that should appear in SBSettings.


On top of these toggles, SBSettings also lets you easily power off or reboot the iPhone via "Power" button.


If you dont like the look and feel of the default SBSettings theme then you can change it using "Manage Themes" in the configuration app. Themes are freely available via Cydia.


    Some iPhone developers have also developed custom widgets that can be installed from Cydia and then enabled so that you can access them using SBSettings. One of my favorite custom widgets is "Processes" which as the name suggests shows you the list of running processes like the Task Manager and also allows you to kill the processes. If you thought you cannot run background apps on your iPhone then it gives you an interesting snapshot of iPhone apps that are running in the background.


    Please note: In case the custom toggles dont show up in SBSettings after installing from Cydia but show up as enabled then disable and re-enable the custom toggle and exit the SBSettings configuration app. The springboard should refresh and the custom toggle should be available in SBSettings.
You can install SBSettings for free using Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone. As I had mentioned earlier, it does not install the application icon on iPhones home screen like other iPhone apps. You can launch it by swiping on your iPhones status bar or tapping the status bar using two fingers.

SBSettings Toggle Allows You To Quickly Enable Or Disable Personal Hotspot Feature

Just a quick heads-up: the iPhone DevTeam just released a new update to redsn0w which brings us to v0.9.6RC11.  Those running redsn0w may have noticed we enabled too many Settings options in some versions of the jailbreak (for instance, what you want your side switch to do, even if you have no side switch because you’re not using an iPad).  RC11 corrects that.

Along the way, they’ve also added the option to enable boot animations…these animations can be installed via Cydia, but be sure to select which animation to use via the Settings->Bootlogo setting after you’ve downloaded an animation.
NOTE: You can just run RC11 over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts

HOW TO:
NOTE: the process is identical on both Mac OSX and Windows, and also identical with previous redsn0w releases. The images used in this tutorial are from previous redsn0w tutorial, so do not be alarmed.
1. Restore your device with a stock iOS 4.3.1 firmware. ( again, by doing this you will loose the ability to unlock!!!)
2. Run redsn0w, and click on browse. Browse for the stock iOS 4.3.1 and open it
3. Wait for redsn0w to recognize it and click ‘Next’
4. On the next screen select what you want to be installed on your iOS device(s). By default, Cydia and ‘enable battery percentage’ is selected. I suggest you deselect battery percentage and everything else, and just install Cydia. This will improve ( a bit ) the overall speed of your device – if you are on a iPhone 3G. If you choose to “Enable battery percentage”, you actually toggle that off and on via Settings->General->Usage.
IF you only need to restore with a custom firmware, deselect everything, and select only “Just enter pwned DFU mode right now”
5. redsn0w will ask you to turn your device off. If it’s not already off, plug it in FIRST and then turn it off. Click next to continue
6. Now, you will need to put your device in DFU mode. Follow the instructions on the screen.
7. Wait a few seconds for redsn0w to do its thing, and you are done. You can close redsn0w because everything else it’s happening directly on the device.
NOTE: Any Windows users seeing “Waiting for reboot” for too long (more than 20 seconds or so), please try “shaking” the JB process by unplugging then replugging your USB cable (while letting redsn0w continue to run). Also, try using a USB port “closer” to your computer (as opposed to on your monitor or behind another hub).
